Dowry Square is centrally situated within a short distance of Bristol City Centre and the floating harbour. Nearby, Clifton Village offers a wide selection of shops, boutiques and restaurants. History

Dowry Square was built around 1720 by George Tully, who later became one of the leading architect–surveyors in Bristol, the area is enclosed by buildings on its north, east and west sides and was purposefully left open on the south to the sun and the river. Most Georgian houses were built to provide suitable lodgings for the fashionable visitors to the nearby Hot-Well though it became an address of note in the medical world, through the work of Humphrey Davy. The completion of the Square was so prolonged that changing taste has resulted in a heterogeneous appearance with No 4 being completed in 1747. Both 5a and 5b Dowry Square overlook the pretty communal gardens with its tall trees, mature shrubs and lawn where resident’s summer parties take place and the active garden committee ensure its upkeep.
